Zinio Announces Availability on All Android Devices with Free Mags for Users
Can be downloaded on 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread tablets and smartphones.
After debuting on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform for tablets last month, the Zinio digital newsstand is now universally available on all Android devices.
To celebrate the arrival of Zinio’s 4,300 offerings on 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread tablets and smartphones, the company is offering new Android users free editions of 12 titles. These include Bike Magazine, Redbook, Maxim, House Beautiful and Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine, among others.
Zinio can be download for free in the Android market.
Earlier this month, Zinio teamed with Groupon, the ever-growing daily discount site. For a week, Zinio ran a test Groupon in select cities (such as Anchorage, Alaska and Baltimore, MA), offering users $35.00 worth of magazines for $15.
“Groupon helped us make sure that the way we positioned the brand resonated with their fans and buyers," said Jeanniey Mullen, global executive VP and CMO for Zinio, at the time. "They work with you to craft the language to make sure that it’s as successful as possible. We were happy to have that because the Groupon audience is a group of people who love deals and they’re really interested in immediacy and something of value so, quite frankly, we weren’t sure if would be a huge success or a terrible disaster or somewhere in between."
