Questex Travel Group has tapped the Attivio Active Intelligence Engine to help bring its print publications to the Web and consolidate them into a single content management system. Attivio helps bridge the gap between numeric data and unstructured content such as news articles and blogs and generates facets that enable the reader to narrow their search while at the same time setting the basis for cross-links. Attivio will also enable Questex to build and generate new revenue from targeted pages and micro-sites.
The Attivio Active Intelligence Engine can combine data sources into a single index that includes internal and external content, user-generated content, pictures and video. Boldfacers.com, a Web site dedicated to the Boston social scene and an early Attivio client, implemented Attivio’s page linking ability so that when new content is added, it automatically generates cross-links on concepts and entities such as people and places mentioned in related articles.
"We are constantly seeking improvements in delivery, relevancy and scope of content to our audiences,” said Questex executive vice president Gideon Dean. “An important part of that process is providing the audience with a single, powerful and user defined search capability. Attivio AIE fits very well into the ongoing enhancements we believe are essential to our new online strategy by creating unique user experiences to keep the travel industry informed, engaged and coming back to Questex.”
