Quad/Graphics Enters Partnership with India-Based Manipal Technologies
Minority interest in tech company expands Quad/Graphic’s reach to Asia.
Wisconsin-based printer Quad/Graphics entered into a new partnership with India-based print service and business solutions provider Manipal Technologies. The minority interest in the company represents an expanded global presence for Quad/Graphics, as ManipalTech conducts business as far as Asia.
A press statement from Quad/Graphics describes ManipalTech as a printer of security, marketing, branding and communications products, with clients in the publishing, banking, insurance, education and retail industries, among others. Currently, ManipalTech is developing products with embedded technology like fingerprint recognition; printed electronics; and furthering information sharing between mobile devices based on proximity, a technology known as near field communication.
Quad/Graphics employs over 22k staffers throughout North America, Latin America and Europe. President and CEO Joel Quadracci says of the deal, “This investment expands our global presence, giving us a strong foothold in another emerging market with a large and growing middle class that is attractive to marketers and publishers. Additionally, this partnership supports a key component of our growth strategy, which is to invest in geographies and segments where we can be a market leader…”
This partnership comes on the heels of Quad/Graphics’ introduction of its Media Solutions division in late March. Though Quad/Graphics was once primarily a printing company, Media Solutions aims to combine traditional print and content support services with emerging media and digital solutions for clients. A company press release details a full-service portfolio, including creative, photography, video, imaging, production and content management.
Quad/Graphics did not immediately return inquires concerning the new partnership.
