In yet another sign that city and regional magazines are gaining traction beyond their zip codes, DLG Media Holdings’ pair of regional luxury titles, Philadelphia Style
and DC Style
, have hooked up with a national newsstand distributor. Beginning with the magazines’ January and February issues, the two titles will be distributed nationally via Curtis Circulation Company
, in an effort to boost single copy sales. About a quarter of DLG’s overall circulation comes from single copy sales.
Buoyed by the success of Philadelphia Style;which has seen a doubling of its circulation and 30 percent increase in revenue over three years;DLG Media COO and founder Dana Spain-Smith has stated plans for a new magazine rollout every 18 months over the next five years.
DC Style, DLG Media's first Style brand expansion, was launched in May.
The move poses at least a theoretical threat to the burgeoning collection of regional titles at Jason Binn’s Niche Media
. Binn launched the D.C.-centric Capitol File and Boston Common earlier this year.
