Greenspun Media Group has appointed Daniel K. Aks as CEO and executive vice president. Aks will be responsible for profit and loss activities for the group’s Las Vegas-based magazines and all operational aspects of the company, and will oversee online initiatives. Most recently, Aks served as senior vice president of operations for MTV Networks.
Former Variety editor-at-large Elizabeth Guider has been named editor of Nielsen Business Media’s The Hollywood Reporter. As editor, Guider will be responsible for the editorial vision and strategic direction of the publication’s daily and weekly editions, as well its digital content. Guider has been reporting the entertainment and media industries for 25 years.
The People Group has named Michelle Myers the first publisher of People StyleWatch, a guide to fashion, beauty and celebrity fashion. Previously, Myers was publisher of Star magazine. Before that, she served as associate publisher of Allure.
Former Hachette-Filipacchi Media veteran Steve Aaron has been tapped as CEO of Vibe Media Group, which publishes Vibe magazine. Aaron replaces Eric Gertler who left the company in April. Most recently, Aaron was group publishing director of special interest magazine and Web site group Future US.
Sally Shankland has been promoted to CEO of the U.S. division of CMPMedica, a global provider of healthcare information and education. Shankland replaces Vicki Masseria who left the company after 26 years. Shankland had been senior vice president of the company’s U.S. promotional business.
Nationalgeographic.com, the Web site of the National Geographic Society, has hired Jim Hoos as vice president of advertising sales. Among his duties, Hoos will be responsible for leading and growing the Web site’s sponsorship and advertising sales efforts. Most recently Hoos was national sales director for TVGuide.com and TV Guide Mobile.
