Michael Pashby, the high-profile general manager of Magazine Publishers of America, is leaving MPA to seek a job at a publishing company. His last day is tomorrow, and his position will not be filled, MPA CEO Nina Link said in an e-mail message.
Pashby has been a ubiquitous figure at MPA, managing the day-to-day operations of the consumer-magazine association as well as playing a role in consumer-marketing strategies.
"After a good deal of thought, I have concluded that the best way of accomplishing my goal is to resign from MPA so that I can devote my full energies to the task at hand," Pashby said in a memo to the staff.
With the departure, MPA has reorganized, expanding the responsibilities of three executives: Howard Polskin, now senior vice president, communications/events; Charles McCullagh, now senior vice president, membership services; and CFO Richard O’Rorke, who takes on oversight of information technology and all administrative duties in the newly created accounting and administration Group.
