New Glamour Web Site Allows Readers to Critique Others’ Fashion Choices (posted 10/4)
Glamour magazine’s dos and don’ts feature is moving online and enabling readers to upload their own dos and don’ts pictures. Blip.tv is building the consumer-generated fashion photo gallery to be featured on Glamour.com, according to a news release from blip.tv. Visitors to the “Don’tspotting site” can upload photographs of fashion dos and don’ts they spot on the street, comment on photos and rate them from five happy “do” faces, to five black-barred “don’t” faces.
Registered users can post unlimited photos by uploading them from their computers or sending them in from a cell phone. Users can categorize, rate and comment on their own photos and those submitted by others.
The site allows for sorting of pictures from highest to lowest rankings and under categories, such as pants, editor’s choice and “cute,” according to the news release. The site will rank photos according to how many people click on them and the average rating of each photo. This software developed by blip.tv allows users to keep track of who is viewing, commenting on and rating their photos.
