Jessica Hundhausen Derrick
Senior Vice President and Brand Development Director
Garden & Gun
Jessica Hundhausen Derrick is Garden & Gun’s senior vice president and brand development director, charged with developing and overseeing extensions of the brand.
Derrick joined Garden & Gun in 2008, and has played an integral role in making the magazine leap off its pages to connect with passionate readers in the South (and far beyond) while positively impacting G&G’s bottom line.
A handful of Derrick’s significant contributions include launching G&G Mercantile + Co, the magazine’s online store featuring products from small-batch makers, artisans, and purveyors that reflect the Garden & Gun lifestyle; activating both advertisers, strategic partners, and readers with unique events across the country; and most notably—conceptualizing, launching, and managing JUBILEE: Made in the South Weekend, the magazine’s signature event that offers firsthand interactions with the best of Garden & Gun’s sporting, food, music, literature, lifestyle, and art. Since its debut in 2013, JUBILEE has seen overwhelming success, and showcased the magazine’s hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
Both inside the office, and in the publishing world at large, Derrick is highly regarded for her leadership style and ability to discover, foster, and retain talent. At G&G, Derrick has created a cohesive team and cultivated a special synergy among the departments that continues to propel the business. Derrick’s colleagues firmly believe in her ability to think outside of the box, trust her direction and admire her dedication to the Garden & Gun brand.
