IDEAlliance has announced plans launch an event dedicated to its G7 specification, which aims to simplify the calibration of proofing systems and presses to help printers achieve a close “visual match” from proof to press and from press to press.
The event, called the G7 Summit, is scheduled for September 15 in New Orleans. The event will be co-located with IREAlliance’s Spectrum360 and Color Management Group’s Extreme Color Management conferences.
According to Dianne Kennedy, vice president of publishing technologies and IDEAlliance GRACoL program director, launching the G7 Summit is “an opportunity for IDEAlliance to bring together the network of those embracing G7 to meet with their peers, learn the latest techniques and provide input to the association so we can set a technical agenda for the coming year.”
In 2006, IDEAlliance’s General Requirements and Applications for Commercial Offset Lithography (GRACoL) committee began certifying color management consultants as “G7 Experts.” Those experts have trained and qualified nearly 200 printers and proof providers around the world to be “G7 Masters.”
IDEAlliance also recently announced the “recasting” of its annual Spectrum Conference, renaming it Spectrum360 “to explore current and emerging technologies and best practices in the media supply chain—creation, production and distribution across all segments of print, publishing and cross-media.”
