The Pioneer Woman will be produced in conjunction with Scripps Networks Interactive and Food Network host Ree Drummond. Hearst will publish two issues of the magazine through 2017, which will be sold at Walmart.
Maile Carpenter — editor-in-chief of another Scripps partnership, Food Network Magazine — will edit the June 2017 debut issue.
The magazine will feature articles on food, meal planning and hosting, as well various lifestyle elements like fashion and family. It will also include personal anecdotes and photographs from Drummond.
This is the latest TV-to-print conversion for Hearst, which also publishes O, the Oprah Magazine, Dr Oz: The Good Life, HGTV Magazine, and Food Network Magazine.
Drummond launched The Pioneer Woman blog in 2006, which was followed by her Food Network Show in 2011. She also has a merchandise partnership with Walmart, which includes cookware and home products. Last month she opened a restaurant and store, The Mercantile, in Oklahoma.
Over at Meredith, a similar project was launched in October with The Magnolia Journal, in conjunction with HGTV stars Joanna and Chip Gaines. The Gaines also have a popular blog and the TV show to match, as well as the Magnolia Market store in Waco, Texas.
