Folio: Summit Draws Top Level Executives From All Publishing Sectors
About 450 publishing executives and exhibitors will descend on the Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago next week for the Folio: Publishing Summit. This year’s program focuses on growth strategies. Keynote speakers include Joe Mansueto, founder of Mansueto Ventures; Jim Spanfeller, CEO of Forbes.com; and Carr Davis and Tony O’Brien, Cygnus Business Media’s new co-CEO’s. The conference will take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
The Folio: Publishing Summit is unique in that it offers a peer-to-peer atmosphere that allows C-level executives to learn from each other. It draws the most top level executives in the industry and is the only conference that draws attendees come from b-to-b, consumer, online and association publications. This year’s speakers are also top rate and come from publications and publishers such as Forbes, IDG, AARP the Magazine, Hearst, Texas Monthly, Mansueto Ventures, Rodale, CMP, Cygnus, Hanley Wood and Penton, offering attendees and exhibitors a robust experience.
"We are very excited about this year’s summit and the attendee response has been overwhelming," said Meredith Townsley, associate producer of Red 7 events. "From the exceptional speaker roster, to the Monday intensives and Dinner with a Stranger, everyone is looking forward to a great event. This is a working conference. Pre-planned key deliverables are essential, but we are also looking forward to uncovering some new strategies and tactics to bring back to the community and the magazine."
Participants in this year’s event will have the opportunity to participate in tracks on Executive Management, Operations, E-Media and Association Publications. There will also be special workshops for b-to-b and b-to-c publications, as well as critique clinics and other offerings. On Monday, a pre-conference show will offer intensives on Restructuring Your Workforce for Growth, Best Practices for Integrated Sales and City and Regional Magazine Day.
The conference has flourished since Red 7 Media acquired Folio: magazine, publisher of Folio: Alert, in the Fall of 2004. This year’s conference will feature approximately 30 exhibitors and sponsors, a 50 percent increase from last year’s summit. Revenue from the summit has almost doubled from last year and has tripled since Red 7 began producing the show in March 2005.
