Jon Mandel, former chief of strategic solutions at communications company Group M, has joined VNU as CEO of its new business unit, NielsenConnect. Mandel has also served as chairman of MediaCom US, a Group M company. Luc Hatlestad has been named senior editor of 5280:Denver's Mile-High Magazine. He was most recently with Red Herring magazine.

Sharon Watts has been appointed to director of advertsing of BeE Woman magazine. Watts will manage the magazine's sales department both locally and nationally. Fortune magazine has named Andy Serwer managing editor. Serwer replaces Eric Pooley, who will now be working on investigative projects for the biweekly. Serwer has served ad editor-at-large for the magazine since 1998.

Siemens Receives $109.4 million Contract from USPS The USPS awarded Siemens a $109.4 million contract modification for additional mail sorting equipment. The deal includes 211 Delivery Bar Code Sorter machines. Expected production and installation of the order is Dec. 1, 2007. Currently there are more than 2,000 in use by the USPS.
