Richard Reiff, president of the Cygnus Publishing Division of Cygnus Business Media, is leaving to start up his own magazine company. Sources say Reiff is interested in pursuing multiple magazine titles that are currently up for sale, although did not reveal specifically which titles he is pursuing.
George Fox, group vice president of the Cygnus Publishing Division overseeing the Security, Law Enforcement and Grounds Maintenance titles, will also be leaving to join Reiff’s new startup. Reiff previously served as president and chief executive officer of Johnson Hill Press, which was acquired by Cygnus in 1997.
"We are searching for a new president of publishing, which will include both internal and external candidates," said Cygnus president and CEO Paul Mackler. Reiff, who could not be reached at presstime, will remain with the company into June, according to Cygnus officials.
