The third annual awards were given out Thursday evening during a ceremony at New Space in New York. The ceremony was attended by 150 people.

United Business Media's U.S.-based subsidiary CMP Technology has sold Backbeat Books, a portfolio of non-core music enthusiast book titles to Hal Leonard Corp. for a $2.2 million in cash. Hal Leonard, based in Milwakee, Wisconsin, is a music print publisher. CMP is United Business Media's b-to-b publishing division with a portfolio of hundreds of print, event and online publications.
Housing and construction industry publisher Hanley Wood has purchased the Aqua Show, a 13-year-old, 100,000 square-foot event serving the pool and spa industry, from Madison, Wisconsin-based Athletic Business Publications. The show will become part of Hanley Wood's Pool & Spa group based in Dallas, Texas.

Contingency Planning, based in Lambertville, New Jersey, produces e-newsletters, conferences and other products. 1105 Media was formed last year to acquire 101 Communications and Stevens Publishing.
Macfadden Communications Group has acquired Home Furnishings News (HFN) from Conde Nast's Fairchild Publication's division. HFN is an 80-year-old weekly publication covering the furniture, housewares, tabletop, floor covering, textiles, and major appliances categories. The sale is effective immediately. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ziff Davis Tuesday said its game group will discontinue the publication of Official U.S. Playstation Magazine following its January issue. The company said the print-only property no longer fits into its "strategic vision" for an "integrated media network" heavily focused on digital platforms.
