ABM Creates New Jobs
Several newly created positions, three of which are being advertised on the Web, are open at American Business Media. The openings are a direct reflection of the organization’s new strategic plan, which was implemented starting July 1, says Steve Ennen, vice president of digital media and information for ABM. The positions include director of sales, director of marketing and events and director of ABM’s Business Press Educational Foundation.
The plan, which was finalized in May by the ABM Board of Directors, was tailored by member feedback, concentrates on solidifying existing programs and looks to adapt to the new digital media age. "We are trying to adjust to both coming issues and foundational issues, but there’s a real strong thrust toward mastering the digital age that has brought this upon us," says Ennen.
As reported in Folio:’s coverage of the ABM’s Spring Meeting in May, key strategic objectives in the new plan include ensuring magazine brands continue to evolve and maintaining leadership in the industry; keeping the editor involved in the branding process; strengthening face-to-face communications, utilizing digital, search, rich data and other e-media services; as well as developing new sales tools to increase membership value.
Also in accordance with the new strategy, ABM is hosting a brainstorming session for its committees and council members next Tuesday in New York to address critical issues. Members will meet for a full day session to flesh out the issues they need the most help with and what ABM can do to assist. "It’s about ratification of new things and new direction to help advance our media members in general into the new frontiers to discover the things that are yet undiscovered," says Ennen.
