Zweig White Reacquires Engineering Group from Stagnito Media
Stagnito had purchased group from ZW in 2009.
Zweig White has bought Stagnito Media’s Engineering Group, which includes the print and digital assets of CE News, Structural Engineering & Design and online vertical channel HubDPT.net.
Stagnito originally purchased the group from Zweig White in 2009. (To make things more complicated, Stagnito had been part of ZW before spinning off in 2008). Zweig White founder Mark Zweig sold his interest in ZW in 2004 but came out of retirement to rejoin the company as CEO in 2010.
The deal leaves Stagnito Media with its Food Service Group, which includes four magazines it acquired from Nielsen in 2010 (that group features Convenience Store News, Progressive Grocer, The Gourmet Retailer and Convenience Store News for the Single Store Owner)."We like the engineering market but our experience is really in the food market," says Stagnito Media CEO Harry Stagnito, who adds that he will be looking for acquisitions in the food category.
Zweig White plans to launch an office in Chicago, near Stagnito’s Deerfield, IL headquarters. "Stagnito Media was part of ZW post-sale to Cardinal Growth in 2004 then carved off again in 2008," said Zweig in a statement. "They never successfully integrated this operation into the rest of Zweig White’s business back then. We intend to fully integrate it now to greatly benefit our clients, readers and the A/E/C industry as a whole as we launch a variety of new products and services aimed squarely at the needs of firm owners in this market. This was a natural for us."
