Winsight Media Buys Food Industry Data Services Company Technomic

Winsight, the B2B media company serving the convenience and restaurant industries, has acquired food industry data company Technomic. The deal gives Winsight an instant data platform that the company plans to leverage into its marketing services offerings.
Terms of the deal were not released. Technomic founder Ron Paul will step down following the deal. The executive team, including EVPs Gary Karp, Bob Goldin and Darren Tristano, will continue in their roles.
Technomic will continue to operate under its own name.
The deal fits the ongoing trend of B2B media companies buying into data services not just for their syndicated research capabilities, but to marry thoses insights with media audience data to help marketing partners better target their prospects.
“The acquisition of Technomic represents an important step in Winsight’s growth strategy by providing our customers and audiences access to the most credible source of food industry market intelligence,” says Winsight CEO Mike Wood in a statement.
