Greg Sullivan

Greg started his career as a corporate securities attorney and later an investment banker before launching a series of successful entrepreneurial ventures. In 1989, he started a business designing and manufacturing international arcade games, including the world’s largest selling coin-operated basketball game. After selling that company, Greg led a car retailing and finance company, growing it into a $750-million operation with 76 dealerships across the country. After selling his interest in that business in 2006, Greg began traveling the globe, searching for his next entrepreneurial opportunity.<br /><br />While on a trip to India, Greg and AFAR’s co-founder Joe Diaz realized that there was no media voice for cultural explorers, those seeking to broaden themselves by going beyond the typical tourist haunts and connecting deeply with local people and places. Thus was born the inspiration to launch AFAR Media, a media company focused on experiential travel that helps people experience every destination as local residents do.

John Siefert

John joined Virgo as CEO in 2010 after a 15 year career with United Business Media (UBM), where he was SVP of the InformationWeek Business Technology Network. John played a pivotal leadership role in transitioning InformationWeek from a print centric publisher to an online network of websites, digital products and peer-to-peer analyst business.<br /><br />Prior to joining Virgo and UBM, John held multiple account management positions with Winston Advertising and Marketing Communications, where he worked on HDS, Polycom and a host of other enterprise IT accounts. He has a B.S. in mass communications and business marketing from San José State University.<br /><br />With nearly 20 years of media and event experience, John drives the strategic direction of Virgo with the rest of the executive management team at the company. John has been married for nearly 16 years, and enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son. John also enjoys running (I am not a marathoner-don't get any ideas), listening to music (Grateful Dead/Doors/Peter Tosh), the (World Champion) San Francisco Giants, and movies (Fletch is the best film ever made).
