UBM Canon Reorganizes Pharmaceutical Group
The data products team will join the group, to focus on special reports.
UBM Canon, which serves the advanced manufacturing and medical device industries, has announced a reorganization which will join its data products team with its Pharmaceutical Media Group, in an effort to integrate the teams and the products Med Ad News, R&D Directions, PharmaLive.com and Pharmalot.com.
Previously, the data products team covered several markets but will now focus solely on producing content for the Pharmaceutical Media group, with an emphasis on data, facts, trends and analysis. “Our data-rich special reports and analysis are what sets us apart in our space,” says Daniel Becker, pharmaceuticals brand director. According to Becker, two-thirds of respondents to a recent audience survey conducted by Marty Akel and Associates found the Med Ad News, PharmaLive and Pharmalot brands “superior” for “providing business intelligence and data,” while 75 percent cited current business intelligence, data and strategies as a priority desire.
Becker, previously associate publisher, has been promoted to this position as part of the reorganization. Former data products manager Sandra Baker has joined the pharmaceutical group sales team as senior account manager.
On the content side, Andrew Humphreys, senior analyst on data products, is now managing editor of special reports, supporting content for both Med Ad News and R&D Directions magazines. Ed Silverman continues as editor of the blog Pharmalot.com and as editor-at-large of Med Ad News and R&D Directions. Christiane Truelove will continue to lead the team as content director.
A product of this shift has been the launch of “R&D Pharma Business Connect,” a weekly e-newsletter providing updates and insight on the deals and financial moves of pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The group is also planning to develop new events, in collaboration with UBM plc’s events division, UBM Conferences.
