ST Media Buys Hospitality Magazine
Publisher to bundle its Hospitality Style with boutique DESIGN.
New York-based Boutique Media Group, publisher of boutique DESIGN magazine, has been acquired by trade publisher ST Media Group International, which serves the visual communications industries.
In addition to the bimonthly print magazine and its companion Web site and e-newsletters, the deal includes Boutique Media Group’s boutiquedesign.tv and four annual industry events: boutique DESIGN New York, Hospitality Match, the boutique 18 Bash and boutique DESIGN Awards.
According to ST Media president Tedd Swormstedt, the acquisition of boutique DESIGN gives the company a “firm foothold” in the hospitality design industry. Cincinnati-based ST Media’s stable of trade titles includes Hospitality Style, VMSD (Visual Merchandising and Store Design), Package Design Magazine, Screen Printing and Industrial + Specialty Printing.
Swormstedt says boutique DESIGN and Hospitality Style, which relaunched in March, have little overlap in circulation and “offer advertisers a broader reach at bundle rates.”
boutique DESIGN was launched in 2005 by Sipco Publications, which is run by Eric Schneider. Sipco will continue to own and publish Fabrics & Furnishings International and Schneider will serve as a consultant to ST Media.
Schneider’s son, Michael—who served as president of Boutique Media—will join ST Media as publisher of its hospitality brands, the company says.
