Rodale Acquires Running Times (posted 2/26)

Rodale Inc., publisher of Prevention, Runner’s World and other health and fitness related titles, has purchased Wilton, Connecticut-based Running Times and its Web site, Runningtimes.com. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Running Times was founded in 1997 and has a rate base of 105,000 and a readership of more than 400,000. The magazine’s ad revenue increased 38 percent and pages were up 24 percent in 2006, Rodale said in a statement. Its circulation has increased 117 percent since 1998. Running Times will continue to under its current editor-in-chief Jonathan Beverly.
Rodale plans to continue operating Running Times and its Web site separate of Runner’s World, but plans to combine their respective databases of race events to provide a single source to racers, Rodale added.
