Quad/Graphics to Expand Insert Printing Capabilities
Invests $20 million on new, existing presses.
Magazine printer Quad/Graphics is expanding its insert printing capabilities. The Sussex, Wisconsin-based company says it will spend $20 million to add four retail offset presses to its facility in Lomira, Wisconsin.
The presses being installed there will consist of new and existing presses, the company says. They will include two new 24-page presses with gapless blanket technology and digital inking. The new equipment will begin use in mid-2011.
According to Quad/Graphics retail inserts, books, directories and Canada operations president Brian Freschi, the investment supports growing retail customer demand for “more versioning and faster production.” He says the retail offset upgrades are expected to help Quad grow its business in the grocery, dollar store, sporting goods and related retail markets.
Last week, Quad/Graphics said it had purchased HGI, a full-service commercial and specialty products printer.
