Printer Launches Updatable Mobile Magazine App Service
Fry Communications and Thumb Media Group collaborate on Mozine project.
As part of a partnership with multi-platform mobile content publishing firm Thumb Media Group, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania-based magazine printer Fry Communications has launched Mozine, a mobile magazine application that can be distributed across all smartphone devices and the Apple iPad.
Instead of creating a digital replica of a magazine or digital edition, Fry says Mozine offers a more custom product that can feature elements from print, the Web, video and other assets from the publisher. “Mozines are unique in that they allow publishers to refresh content dynamically at publisher-determined intervals to encourage frequent use by consumers and a fresh and engaging user experience,” the company says.
Fry says the Mozine service carries three main revenue sources for publishers. One comes from subscriptions purchased by consumers. Another comes from integrated storefront sales and the third is advertising sold within the app itself. Fry and Thumb Media Group say they will work with new publishing clients to establish a customized mobile business plan, including tips on pricing and promotions, maximizing consumer awareness, adoption and revenue generation.
