New hires at Marie Claire, Elle, Women’s Wear Daily and more…
iAcquire appointed Anita Malik, former founder and editor of East West Magazine, to director of content operations.
Michael Martin is the new editor-in-chief of Made Man, Break Media’s men’s lifestyle property. Martin was formerly editor-in-chief at Time Out New York.
Sandow added two new positions to its executive team, on-boarding Erica Holborn as chief strategy officer and Timothy J. Kelliher as executive vice president, Sales. Holborn spent 16 years working up the ranks at TrialGraphix and has been president and CEO since 2002. Previous to the hiring, Kelliher spent five years at Williams Lea as senior vice president.
Elizabeth Thorp named editor-in-chief of Capitol File. Thorp, founder of poshbrood.com, a luxury family travel site, has previously contributed to the Huffington Post and National Geographic.
Keith Cunningham joins Active Interest Media as Detroit sales manager. Cunningham, formerly of WebMD, is AIM’s first sales team member with responsibility across all of its groups and properties.
Women’s Wear Daily promotes Mayte Allende to senior fashion & market editor from fashion editor as replacement for Antonia Sardone who left the publication.
Jason Karaian has joined Quartz as senior European correspondent, based in London. Karaian was previously senior editor covering the financial services industry for Economist Intelligence Unit.
Leah Chernikoff has been named editor of Elle.com. Most recently, Chernikoff served as editorial director at Fashionista.com.
Sharon Clott has been appointed senior editor at InStyle magazine, as Megan Deem has left the post she held since 2011. Clott was previously an editor and producer at MTV.com.
Town&Country announced two new hires: Jennifer Orr as executive director, integrated marketing, and Marisa Stubin as executive fashion director, advertising. Orr was promoted to the full-time post after recently joining the publication as a marketing consultant. Stubin leaves Glamour where she served as American fashion and retail director.
Marie Claire added new editorial staffers:
• Julia Felsenthal, starts as senior editor on Sept. 30 and will oversee the title’s @Play section and lifestyle special projects in addition to writing and editing features.
• Alexandra Brez appointed managing editor to manage the mag’s editorial budget, production and staff and act as Hearst departmental liaison.
• Wanyi Jiang promoted to deputy art director from associate art director, a position she held since March. Jiang will handle front-of-book fashion pages and fashion feature stories.
