Nielsen’s Business Media’s Mediaweek has made six significant editorial promotions. Tony Case has been named editor of Adweek Magazines Special Reports. Case has worked as a contributing writer and editor for Mediaweek since 1998. Jim Cooper has been promoted to executive editor from the position of managing editor. Lisa Granatstein has been promoted to managing editor from news editor for Mediaweek, where she managed all aspects of Mediaweek.com. Marc Berman has been named "The Programming Insider/Mr. Television" columnist. He was most recently senior editor. Anthony Crupi and Mike Shields have both been promoted to senior editor from senior reporter positions at Mediaweek.
Fortune has tapped Peter Gumbel to serve as the magazine’s Europe editor. Gumbel was previously at TIME in Paris where he worked as a senior writer covering European business and politics.
Sabrina Crow has been named senior vice president of Nielsen Business Media’s marketing & media group.
Kalmbach Publishing Co. has promoted Neil Besougloff to editor of Model Railroader magazine. Neil has served as editor of Kalmbach’s Classic Toy Trains magazine since February 1997. Carl Swanson will replace Besouglorr as the new editor of Classic Toy Trains.
Alex J. McKenna has been named publisher of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. McKenna has served as associate publisher since 2006.
Former ELLE business director Ingrid Swan has been named as vice president and general manager of MediZine.
Jim Roberts has been named COO of Kable Distribution Services.
WIRED has announced several new hires and promotions including the promotion of Melissa Bordin to account manager. Job-share team Allyson Deane and Lisa Friedman have joined WIRED full-time as premium market managers while Josh Steele has joined as the exchange section account manager.
VEGAS Magazine has named Morgan Kuntze senior editor. Kuntze served as associate editor for the Bene Italian Life & Style Magazine before joining VEGAS Magazine. Former assistant editor Colleen Smiley has been promoted to associate editor.
Former Fortune senior editor Betsy Morris is returning to the magazine and her former position. Morris was most recently a senior writer at Condé Nast’s Portfolio Magazine.
Meredith’s Traditional Home has tapped television’s "Antique’s Roadshow" antique experts Leigh and Leslie Keno to join the publication as editors-at-large. The twin brothers will pen a column titled ‘The Keno Eye.’
New Active Interest Media title Backpacker has named Kent Ebersole as publisher and Charina Lumley as marketing director. Ebersole was most recently northwest sales director for Juno.com, while Lumley was previously national promotion manager for O,The Oprah Magazine.
Outside’s Go has promoted former associate publisher Walker Mason to publisher. Mason will replace launch publisher Jacob Hill. Hill has left the company to join investment concern Hayfield Capital, where he will specialize in the media and entertainment industries.
Ladies’ Home Journal has hired Susan Pocharski as entertainment director. Pocharski joins Ladies’ Home Journal from Life, where she was responsible for securing celebrity interviews and assigning cover stories.
BusinessWeek.com has named Helen Walters editor of its Innovation & Design channel. She was most recently features editor of British design and advertising magazine, Creative Review.
Rodale’s Prevention magazine editor-in-chief Liz Vaccariello has been promoted to vice president of the brand. Vaccariello, will continue to manage all editorial operations for Prevention.
Fox Chapel Publishing, has named J. McCrary as publisher of its book division.
ScheinMedia has named Leigh Ann Beal associate publisher of New Jersey & Company. Beal was formerly associate publisher of Real Estate New Jersey and head of sales for RealShare New Jersey, Ms. Beal was also publisher of the New Jersey Black’s Guide.
