Edutopia magazine publisher The George Lucas Educational Foundation has hired its first-ever chief operating officer. Cindy Johanson, formerly the vice president of interactive and education for PBS, will assume the new position effective February 21.

Amy Wilkins has been named senior vice president and publisher of Blueprint and Martha Stewart Weddings magazines. She joins Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia from Meredith, where she was most recently publisher of Country Home.
Parents magazine has named Diane Newman vice president and publisher. She joins the magazine from American Media International’s Active Lifestyle Group, where she served as senior vice president and group publisher.
