Tina Johnson has been chosen as the new editor-in-chief of ESPNw. ESPNw, the company’s new digital outreach, is intended for the over 18 female demographic who would like to stay involved in competitive sports after formal education ends. Johnson was founding editor of the Women’s Health for Rodale until she left the magazine in 2008.
Dianne Reynolds was promoted to publisher of The Women’s Health Alliance, OBG Management and The Female Patient by Quadrant HealthCom Inc. Quadrant Healthcom Inc. is also pleased to announce the promotion of Margo Ullmann to group publisher, The Women’s Health Alliance, OBG Management and The Female Patient. Reynolds and Ullman will use cross sell between the titles in order to maintain a more beneficial and effective sales management collaboration.
Energy Central has appointed Randy Rischard as the new vice president of data and analysis products. Rischard has spent 17 years in the energy news and data marketplace. Most recently, he acted as senior vice president of Energy Data Hub Resources, an energy commodity data company.
Bloomberg BusinessWeek announced that Brad Wieners will be their new executive editor. Wieners comes from Men’s Journal, where he served primarily as executive editor from 2005 until 2007. He then served as editor until 2010. Prior to Men’s Journal, Wieners served as the executive editor at National Geographic Adventure.
Lisa Junker, CAE, IOM, has been named as publishing & custom media director by Stratton Publishing & Marketing Inc. She will join Stratton Publishing on February 14th. Previously, Junker served as the EIC of Associations Now magazine. She also worked with the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the Civil Engineering Research Foundation.
Thomson Reuters Corp. announced that Stephen Adler will become editor-in-chief of Reuters News service. Adler was editorial director of the company’s professional division upon joining the company a year ago. Adler succeeds former EIC David Schlesinger, who is the next chairman of Thomson Reuters China. Adler is a former editor in chief of BusinessWeek magazine and a former editor at The Wall Street Journal.
TIME Magazine has appointed Michael Safran as associate publisher sales. Before joining TIME, Safran worked in sales at Sports Illustrated for twelve years. Most recently, he held the national sales director title at SI.
The National Association of Corporate Directors has appointed Brendan Sheehan as editorial director of NACD’s bimonthly magazine. Sheehan previously served as the executive editor of Corporate Secretary magazine.
Jack Hubert has been named associate publisher with shelter publication, Holmes: The Magazine to Make It Right, owned by the Dauphin Media Group. Before joining Dauphin, Hubert acted as advertising director with The Saturday Evening Post. Hubert has also worked with Rodale’s custom publishing division and the west coast division of Reader’s Digest.
Elizabeth Spiers has been named the new editor-in-chief of The Observer. Spiers founded Dead Horse Media, as well as Gawker.com. She has served as the editor-in-chief of mediabistro.com, an editor at New York magazine and a columnist at Fortune. Spiers will be replacing Kyle Pope, who will remain at The Observer as an advisor through the end of March.
Chuck Hawkins is now the politics editor with The Wall Street Journal. Hawkins previously served as the Gazette City Editor.
National Journal has named Maggie Fox, health and science editor with Reuters, to be the managing editor for healthcare and technology. Pam Kruger is now part of CBS Interactive as a senior editor at BNET.com. Kruger was a consulting editor and writer for many different channels, BNET one of them.
InvestmentNews announces Lavonne Kuykendall will join them as a reporter. Lavonne was a reporter for the Dow Jones Newswires before joining InvestmentNews.
Former Bon Appetit editor-in-chief Barbara Fairchild will be joining Nomad Editions’ editorial team. Fairchild has worked with Bon Appetit since 1978, when she joined the magazine as an editorial assistant. She will be a columnist and contributor with Real Eats, Nomad Editions’ weekly digital magazine.
