Mary M. Malloy has been promoted to associate publisher of Hotel Design magazine. She was most recently sales manager of Hotel & Motel Management and Hotel Design magazines.
The Pohly Company has hired seven new employees including Ed Berg as associate publisher, Kristina Sweet as eastern ad sales manager, Debbie Pickering as art director, and Whitney Lader as designer. For its custom publishing division, Brian Bertoldo has been hired as managing editor. Kimmerly McDonough has been named marketing and PR specialist, while Joan Connolly has been named senior accountant.
Newsweek has promoted former Washington bureau chief, Dan Klaidman to assistant managing editor. He will be replaced by Jeffrey Bartholet who formerly served as the magazine’s foreign editor.
Meredith Corporation’s Country Home promoted John Winterhalder to Midwest manager and Wendy Robbins to home category director. Winterhalder has served as account manager since 2004 while Robbins has been an account manager since 2002.
In August, Robert Perino will leave Field & Stream to become art director at Fortune.
Duluth Publishing has promoted Sandy Smith to COO of New Moon. Sandra Schlies has been promoted to fulfillment coordinator at the magazine.
AARP Publications promoted group publisher Jim Fishman to vice president and publisher of AARP Services, Inc. He will continue publishing responsibility of all AARP titles, as well as assume responsibility for the company’s events and sponsorships.
Joseph Siart has been hired as international account director for London-based tech b-to-b media sales organization VNU Global Media. Siart was formerly Director of Sales with CMP Media in San Francisco for six years.
