Peggy Northrop has been named editor-in-chief of Time Inc.’s Sunset magazine. She will replace Kitty Morgan, who took on the role just over a year ago. Northrop boasts an impressive resume having worked at Reader’s Digest, Meredith and Rodale.
Reader’s Digest has named Lauren Gniazdowski as assistant managing editor. Gniazdowski was previously assistant editor at the publication.
Michael Futter is now news editor at Game Informer. Futter was formerly managing editor at RipTen.com
Shape has named Ashley Ross as assistant Web editor. Ross joins the publication from Marie Claire, where she was an editorial assistant.
Nitasha Tiku has been named as an investigative reporter at Gawker. She was previously an editor at The New York Observer’s vertical BetaBeat.
Peter Land has been named senior vice president of communications at AOL. Land was previously head of communications at PepsiCo.
Access Intelligence, parent company of FOLIO:, has named Michael Grossman as vice president and group publisher of its Energy and Information group. Grossman was previously with Penwell, where he was vice president of its transmission and distribution group.
Genesis Media has named Chris Durand as vice president of technology and engineering. Durand was previously vice president of client operations at SelectMinds Inc.
Amy Oelkers has been promoted to associate publisher at Real Simple. Oelkers was previously a sales director at the magazine.
