PennWell, Penton Editors to Receive Special ABM Honors
Trade association announces Crain, Timothy White Award winners.
American Business Media unveiled Monday the recipients of its three special editorial awards that will be handed out during this year’s Neal Awards ceremony.
Taking the coveted Crain Award this year is Bob Tippee, editor of PennWell’s Oil & Gas Journal. Established by a grant from the G.D. Crain, Jr. Foundation, the award honors individuals who made “outstanding contributions” to the development of editorial excellence in business media.
Meanwhile, Rick Bush, editorial director for Penton Media’s Transmission & Distribution World, will receive this year’s Timothy White Award for editorial integrity. Bill McDowell, vice president and editorial director of the Marketing & Technology Group, is slated to receive ABM’s McAllister Editorial Fellowship, which promotes the study of business media by placing fellows as teachers and advisors to Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism’s Medill Magazine Project.
Earlier this month, ABM announced the finalists for this year’s iteration of its annual Jesse H. Neal awards. McGraw-Hill drew the most finalist selections with 13. Following closely behind are Crain Communications and ALM, both with 12.
ABM will hand out this year’s awards, including the Grand Neal award, at an awards luncheon scheduled for March 11 at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City.
