Online Mag: Empowering Women in Entertainment
As part of an ongoing collaboration, the national alliance of Women In Film and General Motors have launched a free online magazine for women in the entertainment industry.
The magazine, called Traction, will include informational sections such as “The Virtual Mentor,” industry-relevant feature stories and reviews of documentaries, films and television.
“The ambition of Traction is to provoke robust discussion and fresh thinking about women and the media,” editor-in-chief Judith James wrote on the Web site.
“Let’s use this magazine to expand people’s way of thinking about women and this ubiquitous, attitude-forming industry of images,” wrote James. “Women who aren’t in the industry need to think about what they are seeing or when they like what they see versus when they simply accept it.”
Women In Film and GM announced their partnership in January 2005 to serve the 20 WIF nationwide chapters, and to develop and expand a joint slate of programs that promote, nurture and empower women in the entertainment industry.
