American Business Media on Thursday handed out its annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards. Taking the top honor, ABM’s Grand Neal Award, was IEEE Media’s IEEE Spectrum for its article, “Why Mars? Why Now?”

ABM named Bob Tippee, editor of PennWell Corp.’s Oil & Gas Journal, the winner of its Crain Award. Rick Bush, editorial director of Penton’s Transmission & Distribution World took received the annual Timothy White award and Bill McDowell, vice president and editorial director of the Marketing & Technology Group, was named the 2010 McAllister Editorial Fellow.
