Montreal-based magazine printer World Color Press, formally Quebecor World, has introduced a new logo and announced that, effective immediately, the company’s market identity will officially be Worldcolor. The company’s new Web site is Worldcolor.com [1].

Merging the words ‘world’ and ‘color,’ the company said, gives its name a “modern edge.” “World is a testimony to our determination to lead and expand our business across all borders. Color is the essence of our business; reaching and touching people with printed and digital images and related services.”

The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July. As part of its plans of reorganization, Worldcolor closed on $800 million in exit financing and drew approximately $540 million to repay its debtor-in-possession credit facility.

In connection with the emergence, the company said it would change its name to World Color Press—a name it has owned since 1999. The company previously was said to be considering the name Novink.

“This marks the beginning of a new era for our organization,” said chairman and CEO Mark Angelson. “Strengthened by the confidence of our loyal customers, suppliers and employees, Worldcolor is positioned to resume its leadership role in transforming our industry and to meeting the changing needs of our customers.”

Angelson was named chairman and CEO earlier this month, replacing Jacques Mallette, who left the company.  Former Reader’s Digest CEO Tom Ryder was named lead independent director of the World Color board of directors, which also includes former Hachette Filipacchi president and CEO Jack Kliger.
