One week after agreeing to sell Congressional Quarterly to The Economist Group, Florida’s Times Publishing Company today said it has put Washington, D.C.-based Governing magazine on the block.

Times Publishing hired investment bankers the Jordan, Edmiston Group as its advisor, the company said.

Governing—along with its Web site [1] and related events properties—is one of three divisions that made up the former Congressional Quarterly group. Last year, Times Publishing sold the CQ Press books division to Sage Publications. At the time, Times Publishing said it was looking to direct its resources toward its Florida-based properties.

Times Publishing publishes its flagship St. Petersburg Times newspaper as well as Florida Trend magazine.

Governing targets state and city government officials and has a BPA-audited monthly circulation of 80,000.
