Rona Berg, a former New York Times Magazine beauty editor, has partnered with Herndon, Virginia-based Homestead Communications Corp. to launch Organic Beauty, a bimonthly targeting women interested in “green” personal care products and cosmetic procedures.

“There may not be a more perfect time to launch Organic Beauty magazine,” publisher Diane Hintz wrote in an e-mail to FOLIO:, noting that the organic and natural personal-care product industry has grown to more than $7 billion annually. “Women are looking for ways to feel good and they are increasingly turning to natural and organic products.”

With a $4.99 cover price and an initial print run of 150,000, the launch issue hit newsstands January 1, a spokesperson said. The magazine will be distributed throughout the U.S. and to Canada and other “selected foreign countries” by Curtis Circulation.

Homestead Communications is a sister company to Sovereign Media. Together, the companies have launched more than 20 national consumer magazines.
