Meredith has announced a minority investment in a network of online women’s social communities.

The investment in the group, called Real Girls Media Network [1], enhances the “depth and breadth” of Meredith Interactive Media’s social networking offerings, the company said in a statement. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, Meredith and Real Girls Media will combine inventory and sales teams and Real Girls’ traffic will link to Meredith’s network of sites—increasing the publisher’s monthly unique visitors to approximately 15 million, the company said.

Founded in 2006, the Real Girls Media Network includes several women’s sites such as its flagship DivineCaroline.com [2], which features user generated content.
