For readers who feel they don’t get enough from their magazine stories, Hearst’s SmartMoney has the solution.

SmartMoney is launching Text4More, a program where readers can use their mobile phones to text a code and receive a PDF over e-mail with additional editorial content from the magazine’s feature stories. The program begins with the October issue which hits newsstands next week.

According to SmartMoney publisher Bill Shaw, the Text4More program is a way for the magazine to “bridge the gaps” between print, online and mobile. “Text4More is a style of integrated marketing that benefits our readers because it offers them access to additional information on their time.”

Mobile technology provider ShopText receives the texts and forward the PDFs. The PDFs will contain editorial and advertising, Hearst says. The initial Text4More ad sponsor is Genworth Financial.

In recent years, Hearst has partnered with ShopText for texting initiatives—with titles such as Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Redbook—that allow readers to purchase products a request samples.
