A Time Inc. spokeswoman this morning confirmed that 27 consumer marketing employees were told Tuesday that the company is eliminating their positions. Spokeswoman Dawn Bridges said some employees may be transferred. "We're working to find other positions in the company where possible," she said in an e-mail.

The pre-Christmas dismissal involved mid- and senior-level employees, MediaBistro reported. The layoffs are the continuation of a blood-letting at Time Inc. that began last December and stretched into the first and second quarter of this year. Time Inc., which is hoping to sell its Time4Media and Parenting divisions early next year, has laid off better than 500 people over the past 13 months.
