Atlanta-based Bluff Media has acquired Woman Poker Player and plans to fold the magazine’s content into its flagship Bluff magazine.
“Women are making up a significantly larger player base and our magazine should reflect that,” publisher and co-president Eric Morris tells FOLIO:. “At one point there was a need for a women poker player magazine but women are savvy players, and there’s no need for a separate magazine anymore.”
The deal was finalized last week. Terms were not disclosed.
Published bi-monthly, Woman Poker Player is distributed at various casinos and tournaments around the country and has an estimated readership of about 100,000. Launched in 2004, Bluff also is distributed at casinos and tournaments, as well as on the newsstand.
“By taking on Woman Poker Player’s subscribers, this acquisition significantly expands Bluff’s sub base of women players,” Morris says.
Former Woman Poker Player publisher Maryann Morrison will continue to operate the magazine’s Web site, womanpokerplayer.com, separate from the magazine.
