The Atlantic has named Jay Lauf as vice president and publisher. Before joining the Atlantic, Lauf had served as publisher of Wired since 2006.

HFMUS has named Sheri Lapidus to the newly-created position of executive director of public relations for Elle magazine. Previously, Lapidus was vice president of the Media Strategies Group of marketing firm Kaplow.

Hearst has named Charles W. Swift, Jr. as vice president of database strategy and marketing. Most recently, Swift served as vice president of consumer marketing for LexisNexis, where he oversaw consumer marketing efforts for the company’s U.S. Legal Markets division.

Time Inc. has named Judy Sage as executive beauty director for Real Simple. Previously, Sage spent nine years at Health magazine as executive beauty director, and prior to that served as beauty director at Allure.

Tech writer Steven Levy has joined Wired magazine. Most recently, Levy spent 12 years as a writer for Newsweek.

Interview magazine has made a pair of personnel changes. Karl Templer has been named creative director, replacing Sam Shahid. Former Vanity Fair associate editor Rebecca Sinn has been named entertainment editor.

Emmis Publishing’s Tu Ciudad magazine has made a number of staffing changes. Art director Tom O’ Quinn has been promoted to creative director, Michelle Hauf Salazar joins the magazine as photo editor, and Melissa Wood has transitioned to the role of advertising manager.

Following the redesign of Lexus magazine in January and the more recent relaunch of its accompanying Web site, the magazine has announced a number personnel changes. Drew Limsky has been named global editor and Lara Behnert has been named global design director. Contributing editors include: David Wong, Paul Ehrlich and Stuart Turnbull.

e.Republic has promoted Lani Cauthen to associate sales manager for its Center for Digital Education, and as associate publisher of the center’s Converge magazine. Previously, Cauthen served as Western region manager for the company’s Center for Digital Government.
