Top-Heavy with Publishing, Private Equity Execs
The Nielsen Company today announced that it has partnered with Dow Jones to launch the inaugural Media and Money conference next month in New York.

Time Warner president and COO Jeffrey Bewkes will give a keynote presentation as will Norm Pearlstine, former managing editor at Time Inc. and currently senior advisor to the Carlyle Group, the private equity firm. Pearlstine will discuss his switch from the publishing industry to the private sector and “impart his view of private equity and its possibilities in the media space, and where he sees newspapers and magazines heading in the coming years.”
The conference will also feature panelists from the world of consumer publishing, including Martha Stewart Living OmnimediaSusan Lyne and Alpha Media Group CEO Kent Brownridge, and private equity players such as the Carlyle Group’s James Attwood Jr., the Blackstone Group’s Jill A. Greenthal and Veronis Suhler Stevenson co-CEO Jeffrey Stevenson.
Other highlights include keynotes from Quadrangle Group managing partner Steve Rattner, Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, Russell “CEO of Hip-Hop” Simmons, ex-Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, who, coincidentally, signed on to back Tom Cruise’s production company last summer after Redstone dropped Cruise from his Paramount studio in a messy Hollywood breakup.
