“I have been made aware that a number of employees have come forward in the last few days to express concern about certain workplace interactions that have created an uncomfortable environment for them,” Win McCormack, owner of New Republic wrote in an internal memo to staff. “As I understand them, these concerns relate specifically to interactions between Ham Fish and a number of women employees. I appreciate the candor our employees have displayed in coming forward with their concerns, and I take the concerns very seriously.”
McCormack also stated that in the wake of the investigation and Fish’s leave, J.J. Gould, currently editor, would step in as acting president and Art Stupar, the associate publisher, would step in as acting publisher.
Meredith Rollins (pictured) is departing from her role as Redbook editor-in-chief. Jane Francisco, editorial director of Hearst’s Women’s Lifestyle Group, will oversee content for Redbook in print.
Elle magazine has announced two editorial additions. Emma Rosenblum has been named executive editor, a newly created position at the title, while Katie Connor is joining as deputy editor. Rosenblum formerly worked at Bloomberg, where she was the editorial director of Bloomberg Pursuits, while Connor formerly served as deputy editor at Cosmopolitan.
NYMetroParents, the parenting division of Davler Media Group, has appointed Deborah Skolnik as editorial director. Most recently, Skolnik served as a multi-platform content manager for Myron Corporation, and also worked as editor of Health Matters magazine.
Time Inc. has named Roger Clark senior vice president, investor relations. Clark formerly served as the first chief financial officer at Unified Enterprises Corp.
Taylor Lorenz has joined The Daily Beast as a tech reporter. Lorenz is currently senior editor/director of emerging platforms at The Hill.
Andrew Durbin has been named frieze magazine’s senior editor for the Americas. Durbin is a poet, novelist, editor, and critic.
Jessica Stroup has been named customer service manager of Fry Communications. Stroup formerly served as the company’s acting manager.
Xtelligent Media has appointed Jane Bogue to its newly created role of chief revenue officer. Bogue formerly served as vice president of sales and business development at HIMSS Media for the publishing division of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
