Meredith Announces TV Show Inspired by Allrecipes’ App
"Dinner Spinner" will air Saturday mornings on the CW, starting October 1.
Magazine branded TV shows are nothing new, but Meredith has put a new, er, spin on the concept. The company announced it will debut “Dinner Spinner” October 1 on CW, an extension of Allrecipes’ mobile app.
The weekly Saturday morning TV show will air at 11 am, and will feature two competitors going head-to-head to create the best meal. Similar to Food Network’s “Chopped,” the competition will welcome a rotating panel of celebrity guest judges who will weigh in on the contestants’ meals. The show will be hosted by chef and TV personality Gabe Kennedy.
An app-inspired TV show is certainly novel, but Meredith suggests the extension makes perfect sense. “Extending this unique blend of premium content to additional channels—with our highly-engaged Allrecipes community and influencers at the center—will further fuel the passion and excitement for our industry-leading brand,” says Jon Werther, president of Meredith National Media Group.
