Larry Hackett Re-Elected President of the American Society of Magazine Editors
The managing editor of People was re-elected at ASME’s annual meeting today.
Larry Hackett, managing editor of People magazine, has been re-elected president of the American Society of Magazine Editors today at its annual meeting.
Other re-elections include Peggy Northrop as vice president of ASME; Northrop is the vice president and global editor-in-chief of Reader’s Digest. Lucy Danziger, editor-in-chief of SELF, was re-named secretary; and Rosemary Ellis, editor-in-chief of Good Housekeeping, has been re-elected as treasurer.
ASME officers serve one-year terms, and are eligible for reelection to remain in office for a second term.
Five new members were also added to the ASME board for two-year terms. New additions include: Amy DuBois Barnett, editor-in-chief of Ebony; Dana Cowin, editor-in-chief of Food & Wine; Sally Lee, SVP/New York editorial director, Meredith Corporation, and editor-in-chief of Ladies’ Home Journal; Gael Towey, chief editorial and creative director, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc.; and Josh Tyrangiel, editor of Bloomberg Businessweek.
Hackett became president of ASME in April 2010; he succeeded David Willey, editor-in-chief of Runner’s World.
