James Heidenry Named Editor of Bauer’s In Touch, Life & Style and Closer Titles
Just weeks after departing from American Media Inc., Heidenry joins Bauer as editorial director of its entertainment group.
Just like in fashion, in magazine media, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. And the next you’re in again.
Just weeks after departing from American Media Inc., where he worked since 2012, Bauer Media Group has named James Heidenry editorial director of its entertainment group, overseeing In Touch, Life & Style and Closer Weekly, the company announced this week.
In his new role, effective immediately, Heidenry will report to Bauer’s chief executive officer, Steven Kotok.
“I’m delighted to welcome James Heidenry to Bauer,” said Kotok, who previously worked closely with Heidenry on the launch of Maxim, in a company statement.
“James has the vision and drive required to lead our Entertainment Group and an intuitive connection to the reader like few other editors I’ve worked with.”
At Bauer, Heidenry will be replacing David Perel, who also previously worked for AMI as editor of National Enquirer and Star magazine.
Heidenry’s exit from AMI in late October was announced just six months after he took over as editor of Us Weekly. In addition to his role at the title, Heidenry also edited OK! and Star magazine.
Upon his departure, AMI revealed that Jennifer Peros, managing editor, would be replacing Heidenry as editor of Us Weekly, while James Robertson, executive director, would succeed him as editor of OK!.
