IDG Launches Consumer Expo
Offers contest to name the show; extends alliance with Entertainment Software Association.
International Data Group will launch a new consumer entertainment exposition next year that has received an exclusive endorsement from the Entertainment Software Association. The event will run Oct. 18 through Oct. 20 2007 and is targeted to the general public, rather than business and trade audiences.
As part of the launch, IDG will host a contest through Nov. 20, 2006, that allows gamers to come up with a name for the show by entering at Gamepro.com/namedbygamers. The winner will receive two round-trip airline tickets, hotel accommodations for the expo, and behind-the-scenes access to products and events. IDG Entertainment publishes GamePro magazine and offers Web sites such as gamepro.com, gamerhelp.com and games.net.
Meanwhile, the Entertainment Software Association has selected IDG World Expo to manage its E3 Media and Business Summit in July 2007 and former ESA vice president Mary Dolaher has joined IDG World Expo as executive vice president.
