IDG Communications Expands Executive Team
Longo and Gallant promoted to senior roles in U.S. operations.
On the heels of IDG Communications Worldwide CEO Bob Carrigan’s decision to step down and subsequent shift to Dun & Bradstreet as its new CEO, new IDG Communications U.S. CEO Michael Friedenberg announced a pair of senior-level promotions Tuesday in his first major move after being promoted last month. Friedenberg lifted Peter Longo to chief digital officer and John Gallant to chief content officer.
“Pete and John have been leaders in our transformation from a print to digital media company in recent years,” says Friedenberg in a statement.
In his new role, Longo, who joined IDG five years ago, will take responsibility for digital strategy and operations for IDG Enterprise, IDG Consumer & SMB and IDG TechNetwork. In addition, he will retain his current role and title as CEO of IDG TechNetwork, as well.
“Pete and his team’s accomplishments in building audiences and adding technologies and partnerships across the TechNetwork of independent sites and our media brands have propelled IDG to a leadership position in delivering data-driven solutions in tech media,” contends Friedenberg.
Friedenberg will assume Longo’s CEO responsibilities for IDG Consumer & SMB brands, while maintaining his own CEO status for IDG Enterprise.
Gallant, the first-ever chief content officer, previously served the company in a similar role for IDG Enterprise since 2010. Under his guidance, the IDG Enterprise editorial team earned more than 100 awards and maintained a monthly average page view total around 28 million.
“John brings a unique combination of editorial management and business skills gained first as editor-in-chief and then as CEO of Network World,” Friedenberg says. “He will ensure that editorial quality and integrity remain a cornerstone of what we do as we serve the evolving needs of both advertisers and readers.”
