Hanley Wood Appoints David Colford as Chief Revenue Officer
Newly created position to oversee growth strategies across sales and marketing.
Hanley Wood is continuing its executive buildout with the appointment of David Colford to the newly created position of chief revenue officer.
The position, says Hanley Wood CEO Peter Goldstone, is set up to drive top-line growth from the company’s building product manufacturer base—overseeing sales and marketing operations and strategies, including marketing services.
"We will capitalize on our industry-leading position by being even more progressive on the digital and marketing services fronts," says Colford in a statement. "We are going to serve our advertising customers in ways the industry has not previously considered, all the while making the engagement even more meaningful for our content customer."
Colford, who will report directly to Goldstone, has bounced around the tech media market, with previous positions at Ziff Davis, IDG and CMP. He was most recently executive vice president of global sales and operations at Geeknet Media, which just sold off its remaining content assets—Slashdot, SourceForge and Freecode—to Dice Holdings, Inc., a network of niche job sites, for $20 million.
Since early this year, Hanley Wood has been expanding its executive team. Goldstone returned to the company in April as CEO. Just prior, Bob Benz was appointed as president of content and Christopher Veator joined in August as president of market intelligence. Andrew Reid, who previously headed market intelligence, was moved to a new role of president of digital.
