Former RBI Publisher Launches New Restaurant Magazine
Restaurant Development & Design launches as biannual with event tie-in.
Zoomba Group—publisher of former Reed Business Information title Foodservice Equipment & Supplies (FE&S)—is set to launch a new magazine this month, called Restaurant Development & Design.
The biannual publication will be distributed in print and digital format to 15,000 professionals in the multi-unit restaurant market. The brand has also entered an exclusive media partnership with RestaurantPoint, an annual industry event serving the top 200 restaurant chains.
President and CEO Maureen Slocum founded Zoomba Group when she acquired FE&S from RBI in May 2010. The title had been shuttered in the prior month, during RBI’s massive closure of 23 titles and effective exit from the b-to-b publishing space. Since relaunching the magazine, Slocum has boosted its print circulation by 3,000 and has redesigned the title’s five e-newsletters.
Slocum previously served as an advertising sales executive and publisher in RBI’s hospitality media division. Her team at Zoomba Group consists of former RBI coworkers—editor Joe Carbonara; contributing editors Donna Boss, Amelia Levin, Dana Tanyeri and Lisa White; art director and production manager Anne LoCascio; finance director Tracy Mugan and sales directors Kris Duvall and Carol McAdams.
