Former Radar Online Editor David Perel Named Star EIC
Replaces Candace Trunzo after four year run.
American Media Inc. has announced Candance Trunzo will leave Star Magazine after four years with the publication. She will be replaced by David Parel, who comes to Star from Radar Online.
Radar Online will now be run by Jose Lambiet.
Nine editorial staff from AMI have also been let go, though three slots are set to be replaced, according to NYPost.com.
On November 11, 2010, AMI filed for Chapter 11. The bankruptcy filing cited AMI’s debt structure included a $385 milion first lien loan and “up to $140 million in second-lien loans. It also call[ed] for a new $40 million revolving credit facility.”
Star Magazine saw a 13.1 percent increase in ad pages from 2010’s first quarter to the first quarter of 2011, rising from 3221.48 to 363.44 pages, according to the Publishers Informations Bureau’s first quarter report.
